Filling up a nasal spray bottle with saline solution?

Is it effective? I’ve heard of something called jala neti which involved usinga pot of saline solution to clean the nasal cavity. What about in nasal spray? Because I’ve heard about the side effects of the chemicals in nasal sprays, I am now considering using a natural saline mixture.
