The consistency of this product is like water so you’d have to use a palm full of it to even lather up your hair. And the results are just horrible. To be completely honest I’ve seen better results using drugstore shampoos like Herbal Essences and considering the fact I hate those detergent filled products, that’s saying a lot. Save your money here people–it’s not worth five, much less twenty five.

I love these products. I have used countless others including Dove, Pantene and Biosilk, and there isn’t another product out there that could compare. They are a bit expensive, but compared to the bottles and bottles that I was buying of product that didn’t work, i think it evened out. Follow the directions and give it a few weeks to work. Trust me, it delivers.

I started using this shampoo after my hairdresser recommended it. I’ve been using the product for about a month now. Before I was using “extra hydrating” shampoos because I felt my hair was dry but they just seemed to coat my hair and leave it flat and lifeless. Using this shampoo my hair now feels more healthy and shiny, not flat at all. I don’t even use conditioner anymore, just the shampoo. I agree with the other reviewers that it is difficult to get a lather going with this product, and at first the consistency seems quite different to what I was used to with other shampoos. But as another reviewer (Lorna) recommended, I always wash twice, just a little the first time, and then the second time you get a lot more lather going. A little goes a long way, after a month I am about half way through the bottle (I have shoulder-length hair and wash it every second or third day). It is a more expensive product than most you can get at the drugstore, but for me it has been worth it, especially since I don’t need to buy conditioner as well and my hair looks and feels great!

Phyto is an incredibly clean and natural line that people often don’t understand how to use. These shampoos do not lather up the way that drugstore items do because it is nearly impossible for a natural shampoo to lather without the use of harsh chemicals. Also, because Phyto shampoos do not contain ANY water (which is amazing, look at your bottle of Prell at home, it’s usually a top ingredient… you wouldn’t want to pay 25 bucks for bottled water, would you?) your hair must be TOTALLY wet when you use this shampoo to get much of a lather.

You must also wash your hair twice with Phyto shampoos, but don’t worry, you really need less than a capful for even shoulder length and longer hair. The first wash is to get out any product, chemicals or other dirt that may be in the hair. The second time you wash, leave the shampoo on for a few minutes and let the wonderful botanicals do their work on your scalp. Also, because your hair is wetter than it was before, you will notice more lather from the second wash. Also, I find that when using this shampoo, my hair and scalp are so healthy that I don’t need to shampoo daily, only every other day at most.

The people at Phyto believe that a healthy scalp means healthy hair. Once you use this product for even a week you will notice that the reside and build-up usually found on your scalp is gone, leaving a healthy, well moisturized scalp that can breathe… which is key to shiny, beautiful hair.

I have been using these products for four months now and have not thought to look back and use my old drugstore, or even more pricey Aveda or Redken shampoos since.

Follow the directions that come with each shampoo and treatment, as they are all different. Some shampoos can be used daily, some will cause damage if used more than once a week.

Spend the money, it’s worth it, but learn how to use these products before you write them off. Believe me, your scalp and hair will thank you.
